Playgrounds at East Shore Precinct

There are playgrounds around East Shore Precinct on Flinders Parade Gladstone. I like the idea of the playgrounds in different places around this 43-hectare precinct rather than one massive playground in one area.


If you enter the precinct from the car park on Flinders Parade, the first playground that you will find is opposite O'Connell Wharf. This playground has a soft fall mat and shade. There are big trees that also provide natural shade, perfect for a hot day. There is a pirate cubby house with a little hammock, a see-saw and a spinner as well as a climbing frame and slippery slides. This playground is suitable for babies up to toddlers.



As you walk towards the water play area, you will find another playground before you reach the jetty. This playground has more challenging climbing frames and big round swings for more than one person. There is also a spinner just opposite the amenity block. This playground area has a soft fall mat with sail shade above the climbing frames.



The next playground looks industrial with silver metal for all play equipment. This playground is located not far from Auckland House, a cafe in the East Shore Precinct area. The playground has double swings with climbing frames under a roof with a soft fall mat. The industrial look was toned down a bit with green gardens and a well-maintained lawn.

The last one is called the Boot Camp area, complete with exercise instructions, but I can see children also having fun here. The Boot Camp area is located not far from the Cruise Terminal Plaza at the other end of the precinct. The Boot Camp is also industrial looking with silver metal being used around this area.


All playground areas have benches for parents or carers to sit while their children have fun. Otherwise, there is also a nice green lawn to spread your picnic rug.
