The East Shores precinct, located at Flinders Parade Gladstone, caters for all ages residents and visitors as a place to meet, relax, exercise, have fun and learn. This community parkland combines everything that makes locals proud of Gladstone, from its sustainable industry, culture, maritime history, natural beauty and everything in between.
You can find recreation areas such as,
interactive water park ,
playgrounds , open green space with free BBQ stations that are perfect for picnics and other outdoor activities as well as a waterfront promenade with a viewing platform and fishing platform by extending jetty structure.
You can also find a waterfront café, an outdoor theatre with massive big screens and a cruise terminal that is still under development. An internal pedestrian and cycle promenade links the parkland with the city centre pedestrian network, and adjacent Auckland Hill lookout is perfect for exercise or walking. At the end of this path, there is a booth camp, located near the cruise terminal.
As one of the coal ports in Queensland, you can also find some mining machinery, located near the cruise terminal. Plenty of signage posts will tell you an amazing story about the mining and coal industry around the Gladstone area.
Gladstone's role as one of Australia's largest ports and maritime precincts with its huge history also can be found here. Buoys floating are placed all over some grass areas, as well as site signage referencing deep sea buoys and Little Sea Light House. You can read about the Coral Sea Battle and Gladstone's involvement in WWII. Another focal point of this parkland is HMAS Gladstone which is berthed permanently in its wet dock.
Large-scale public artworks by local artists celebrate the entry to the parkland with maritime and ocean life forms as the site's character and local significance. Two carparks at each end of this parkland can be found. Amenities block can be found near the water play area. Plenty of things to do and experience at East Shore Precinct Gladstone.
