East Ipswich Honour Park

Lots of fun without lots of people
Ipswich boasts many big, impressive parks. But if you're looking for something a little quieter, without the crowds and all the noise, come and visit East Ipswich Honour Park. Though smaller than some of its counterparts, this park has everything you need to entertain the family.

Bright colours and a variety of different textures really bring the play equipment to life. The twisty slippery slides are loads more fun than the standard straight up and down variety, but small enough that the little ones can still have a go. Adventurous children will love the rock climbing wall and the spiders web bridge will test their balance.

If it's the mind that needs a work out, there are loads of puzzles for your kids to try. Match the farm animal heads to their bodies, drive a racing car around the maze or challenge someone to a game of naughts and crosses. The play area is all covered by shade sails to prevent any nasty sunburn.

For those that enjoy ball sports, there are two half basketball courts with hoops, and plenty of open green space to kick a ball around. Additionally, this park has toilets and several covered picnic areas with barbecues. A pram and wheelchair friendly path winds through the park from the car park. And the whole park is fenced, so even the fastest children will not be able to escape.

Perhaps the best thing about this park, though, is how quiet it is. There are a few larger parks nearby, and it seems that East Ipswich Honour Park may be overlooked. This makes it perfect for a birthday party or other celebration. There is plenty to entertain the kids, plus all the amenities required for a party. The smaller size of the park also makes it easier for you to keep an eye on the kids while still relaxing by the barbecue with the rest of the adults. Plus securing your spot may be easier than at some of the busier party spots, making for a less stressful celebration.

Even if you're not planning any big celebrations, East Ipswich Honour Park is a great place to visit. Next time you're in Ipswich, give the big parks a miss and come and discover this well kept secret.
