It would be easy to miss East Avenue Books if you weren't on the look out for it. The shop sits on the corner of East Avenue and Cromer Parade, and houses a range of second hand books waiting to be read.

East Avenue stock a huge selection of books, from old to new, reference, childrens, general fiction, and crime are among some of the ones you will find. All the books have been kept well, and many are like-new. Books average about $10-15, a huge discount from the $30 that you might find yourself paying in some book stores.

There is a good collection of Australian fiction, from writers such as Tim Winton and Peter Carey. Checking out their collection is a good start for anyone wanting to familiarise themselves with some of our best known authors, and some of the lesser-known ones.

If you are a fan of Australian fiction then East Avenue Books also have something to appeal to the book collector. They have a stock of first editions and signed first editions available for purchase. Many of these are by great Australian authors, and the perfect edition to a collection. You can check out the list of available books, and send them an email to info@eastavenuebooks.com.au.

From time to time East Avenue Books are the host to some events, including book signings or meet-the-author sessions, book and poetry readings, and some book launches. If you want to find out about any events check their website for details.

East Avenue Books is a great place to browse, and an even better place to buy. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere, and very friendly staff. If there is a particular book you're searching for then see if Joan and Peter are able to find one for you. Or if you're looking for a great recommendation they can help with that too.

East Avenue Books are open Wednesday to Saturday 10am till 5pm, and Sunday 1pm till 5pm.
