How exciting! We have all been doing such a fabulous job of social distancing and flattening the COVID-19 curve, the Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has announced the very welcome news that certain recreational restrictions will be eased from Saturday 2 May 2020.
Queenslanders are being given the green light for some additional leisure activities, plus travel distances from home will also be increased. Please note social distancing rules still apply!
From next weekend, Queenslanders will be able to:
Go for a drive, within a 50km radius of home
Ride a motorbike, jet ski or boat for recreation
Have a picnic
Visit a national park (the author still needs to ascertain which ones will be open)
Shop for non-essential items - I suspect we've all been doing this online already!
Outings are still limited to members of the same household or one individual with one friend. All social gathering rules and limits on visitors remain in place. See image below.
As at today, 26 April 2020, Queensland has 98 active cases of COVID-19 and the Queensland Government intends to keep a close watch over the numbers of new infections, with the intention of reviewing these 'new' measures in two weeks time.
