Debra, a stay-at-home mum of three, loves experiencing and sharing all that Brisbane has to offer; especially southside secrets.
There's a new market in town. Earth n Sun Farmers Markets, based on the European village way of life, will make their debut on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Balmoral State High School (Morningside).
The aim of these markets is to bring the community together while having a positive impact by either "initiating, participating or contributing to various community projects". They have already achieved one goal with their first project; a bush food trail and edible garden in Balmoral State High School.
Their inaugural market day will be celebrated with a grand opening from 7 am til 12 pm. There will be heaps of giveaways and prizes as well as live music by The Lamplights, cooking demonstrations and a strawberry eating contest. A jumping castle and face painting will keep the kids entertained while mum and dad wander around the market. But first, grab a bite to eat from one of the multi-cultural food stalls: Turkish food, German sausages or Dutch poffertjes (puffy pancakes).
In addition to fresh fruit and vegetables direct from the farm, the market stalls are vast and varied selling everything from peanuts and peanut butter from Kingaroy, organic honey from local hives, gluten-free gourmet sausages, fresh bread baked on site in wood fired ovens to fresh home-made pasta. For the ladies, there is also fresh flowers, fashion, jewellery and eyebrow shaping. More information on the stall holders or how to become a stall holder can be found here.
Plenty of parking is available on site, off Thynne Road.
