Earth Hour has always been for everyone. Every year, the hour of no power turns individuals, schools, businesses and communities into a millions-strong movement, and it's never been a more important time to make the switch to protect our planet earth. Show your support with simple switches in your daily life and help our planet to switch to a renewables future. You could switch to solar power, switch your ride (check out the exciting opportunity with Fonzarelli ) or just #SwitchOff your lights for Earth Hour to show your support for Australia becoming a renewables powerhouse.

Australia has enough sunshine and wind to produce clean and affordable energy to power our whole nation, plus sell to our neighbours. By harnessing these resources and becoming a renewables nation, we could boost our economy, create tens of thousands of new jobs and protect our unique species and landscapes. There is no change too big or small, every switch we make will have a huge impact on the planet

The impacts of the climate emergency are being felt across our country more than ever before. During the catastrophic bushfires of 2019-20, over 19 million hectares of Australian land burnt during the 2020 fire season. Nearly 3 billion native animals were impacted in the catastrophic bushfires. Cities shrouded in toxic smoke haze. Farms and regional towns devastated by drought. This (2021) is the year everything changes, which is why this Earth Hour is the most important one for our planet. It is our opportunity to protect the future of the one home we all share by ensuring the environment is at the top of the global agenda. For more information head to the WEBSITE .

While on the subject of saving the planet, you might consider DONATING and SUPPORTING #gs .vkom8w">WWF Australia : Wildlife & Environmental Conservation. Most organisations involved in Earth Hour have chosen WWF to be the recipient of the combined Earth Hour Switch Off and Fundraiser. Saving our planet is not just about switching off - it's about taking care of nature as well, and WWF has a long and proud history as the leading voice for nature for more than half a century. They partner with governments, businesses, communities and individuals to address a range of pressing environmental issues and strive to conserve biodiversity in Australia and throughout the Oceania region. It's a big task and not one they can tackle alone, but together we can.

Find out more via their #gs .vkp13w">WEBSITE . There's a lot of material online that could be an eye-opener for you. Find out more about how they're involved in #gs .vkp4u6">conservation of Australia's most threatened and endangered species , restore their habitats and win the fight against extinction. How they #gs .vkp4v1">protect our oceans so that future generations can continue to enjoy nature's beauty. You can help protect our oceans by reducing your use of plastics.

What's cooking in your kitchen tonight and what did it take to produce those ingredients? While you probably know how much they cost in dollar terms, have you considered the #gs .vkp4v3">environmental cost of the food you eat ? The world's 7.6 billion people currently consume more than 1.7 times what the Earth can supply sustainably and we will need to produce 70% more food to feed an estimated 9.8 billion people by 2050. WWF are championing planet-friendly alternatives that are good for nature and good for people, sustainable food that's healthy, tasty and #gs .vkpmi8">certified sustainable , or demonstrably on a pathway to sustainability.

WWF Australia also works with businesses, governments and communities to accelerate the solutions and speed up Australia's transition to zero carbon pollution, ensuring Australia does its fair share and supports those most vulnerable to the impacts of #gs .vkp5bt">climate change . As you can see, there's a lot to be done to right the damage we have caused our planet, and if we don't all do something now, the future would be very bleak indeed. Don't wait till it's too late. Join the conversations, start the conversation, work towards building a future in which people live in harmony with nature. Ugly though it may sound, #gs .vksy9f">oney/donation is a generous way you can help those who are fighting the fight for all of us!
