Join Earth Hour 2012 and switch off your lights
Show your support for Earth Hour on Saturday March 31st 2012 at 8.30pm and join over 5000 cities around the world by switching off your lights for an hour!
Here's a list of fun things you can do during the dark hour.
Stargazing Throw a picnic blanket on the floor of your backyard, sit outside on the verandah, or rest in the hammock and enjoy the natural lighting of the moon and stars. For a bit of challenge, see what constellations you can find, like the Southern Cross, the Centaurus and Carina.
Have a nice, warm and relaxing bath. Turn on some soothing music, light some scented candles, and if you like, try meditating, taking deep breaths to cleanse your mind and body. Remember to have a towel nearby and clear away any obstacles to avoid slipping over something. Or why not turn it into a romantic night with your partner?
Reading Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice by candlelight
Read by Candlelight Find your comfiest sofa, grab a light blanket and prepare your cup of tea, before sitting by the candlelight and reading your favourite book, or why not make it a classic to really take you back in time.
Games in the Dark Invite your friends over and play Murder in the Dark. It will heighten the mood and suspense of the game playing in the pitch black with a few candles scattered about the house (just so you don't trip over anything). Other games to play include card games, such as Spoon, drinking games like Kings, or why not play a drawing game and after the hour is up, see what everyone's drawing looks like.
Have a real conversation When the lights go off, we tend to gather around our family members, flatmates or friends. Why not take this opportunity to just sit down and really connect with your friend or family. Gather your family, friends or flatmates around. It's easier to have a conversation about sensitive topic when it's darker and you might be very surprised.
