I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
You've probably heard of Earth Hour before. You may even have participated. But did you do anything special during that hour when the lights are off? Or did you just watch TV or enjoy the novelty of doing things by candlelight?
The Earth Hour Starlight Picnic offers a potentially more enjoyable way for your family to spend Earth Hour this year. It involves music, star gazing, lantern making, fire dancing performances and activities just for kids, and will take place at Bondi Pavilion from 6.00pm to 10.00pm.
Since the 2014 Earth Hour is all about the Great Barrier Reef, and the threats currently posed to it, there will also be a screening of 'It's Lights Out for the Reef'. This film is a new documentary from WWF (the organisation that founded Earth Hour in Sydney in 2007).
The Starlight Picnic will be hosted by the three councils of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs: Waverley Council, Randwick Council and Woollahra Council. They all encourage their residents to bring a picnic, blankets and some company, and come enjoy this fun, sustainable evening.
