School holidays are great at the beginning. Everyone enjoys sleeping in, a slower pace, and a break from after school programs. And then after several days of rest you realise the kids are bored and restless and activities must be organised.

ArtPlay, Melbourne's art centre for children, has a wide range of interesting and fun activities on offer for kids during the term three holidays, at an affordable price. A calender of events is here.

One highlight is Ear-o-polis, hosted by the Arena Theatre Company. This event allows children to explore the world of interactive theatre. Participants will go on a journey of discovery through a world of intriguing objects where their movement influences the soundscape around them.

The kids will create scenes and short stories inspired by these objects, then make a three dimensional space with paper and paint and play out their narrative.

There is a choice of four sessions, lasting an hour and a half. The kids come back at a later date to see everyone's creations from all the sessions.
