A magical coffee on a magical island
When you are a seasoned traveller, there are few places this far north that have genuine culture. Though Magnetic Island is a secret treasure of a place where artists, creatives and elusive magical European baristas converge almost by accident, often getting drawn to the island on their way to somewhere else. And sometimes culture finds its way into the nooks and crannies of the island.

That elusive perfect coffee

When you find a little place like this, sometimes you come across a cafe that belongs to another time and place. Perhaps a small Italian cafe, where the doors only open 5 times a week, and breathes life into a place that was quiet and unassuming only yesterday. Somewhere where crooning old-time music drifts over the ocean, as the aroma of that perfect first morning coffee wafts through the kitchen and meets the sea breeze.

Perfect babycino

In a place like this, you would expect to be served prosciutto with avocado wasabi on sourdough for breakfast, rather than the standard bacon and eggs. "Bacon? what is this that you speak of? there is only prosciutto here!".

The island's best kept secret

You might see a gorgeous young Italian couple dancing out in the kitchen when they think that nobody is watching. Or a little girl reading to her doll while sampling a decadent Nutella and pistachio ice cream brioche ... It might be a place where anything was possible.

Kid friendly coffee

This elusive Italian cafe could be frequented by beautiful sun-tanned people ordering the perfect Italian coffee from tiny other-world glasses. Where scones still come warm, and dusted with icing sugar, and are served with hot tea, jam and cream. On the quietest strip of the island, this would be a place where you could sit and look out to the ocean, pretending like you were the only people on earth, save for the dolphins, whales and schools of fish that can be seen perfectly from this very spot.

Avo time

If this place existed, it might be a very well kept local secret. However, just between you and me, if you got to the island very EARLY, then the early BIRD often catches the perfect coffee. Much love and island vibes - you can thank me later.
