It's Monday morning. You check out of your Dunsborough accommodation. The car is packed, but the sun is shining and you're not quite ready to go home just yet...so what do you do? Well, a friend and I decided that a delicious lunch with a view sounded like the perfect way to spend our last couple of hours of free time before heading back to the city. Having not been to Eagle Bay Brewery since it opened late 2010, we decided to check it out. It was a good decision.
We were the first to arrive just after 11am when doors opened. With our choice of tables, we sat outside and immediately felt relaxed. The view is amazing, across the family's farm and out to the ocean.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and clearly knowledgeable in regards to the food, wine and beer the company produces. There is a herb and vegetable garden to one side of the tables and the brewery pride themselves on using local produce wherever they can. We ordered and were able to sit back and enjoy the view while waiting for our lunch to be cooked. When the food arrived it was fresh, flavoursome and filling.
As we were eating, the tables began to fill up and by the time we left the carpark was almost full. We didn't have kids with us, however if you did, there are balls to be played with on the lawn and a nice big sand pit off to one side to keep the kids occupied while you sit and enjoy the day. I imagine as the weather warms up the brewery will become even busier, so it would be best to get in early or book a table in advance.
The brewery has many things going for it, including that it's within close proximity to the Dunsborough townsite. After you've eaten at Eagle Bay Brewery you could pop up the road to sample some of the wines at Wise, take a drive out to Cape Naturaliste lighthouse or (weather permitting) have an afternoon swim at Meelup, Eagle Bay or Bunker Bay.
Unfortunately we had to get back in the car and drive home to Perth, but it was a perfect way to prolong the time away just that little bit more.
