Sugar, sprinkles and chocolate, oh my
Need some sugar goodness minus the animal products? We'll I have the list for you!

Girls and Boys, Fitzroy

A Fitzroy favourite and a classic in the Melbourne vegan scene, you're in safe hands at G & B. This little shop, branching off from vegan classic Veggie Bar's takeaway section, will satisfy your sweet craving with one of many plant-based items. The menu includes soft serve, waffles, a milkshake worth crying over and a banana split you won't want to split with anyone. Recommendation: Pimped out soft serve in the flavour of the day!

Black Waffle, Northcote

Are you keen to smash back some ice cream without the not so subtle hint of soy? Interested in having options other than lemon sorbet and berry whip? Well, I have the place for you! Black Waffle, in its simplicity, is likely most vegan-friendly café around. Most of the menu can be turned into a cruelty-free treat because substitution is super easy! There are multiple vegan ice creams selections available to compliment the waffles and vegan cream cheese to smear on one of the many bagel options. Avoid the black waffle cone; it's not vegan-friendly! Recommendation: Do not, I repeat, do not go past the waffles!

La Panella Bakery, Preston

Daytime dessert is the best thing ever. So, to call yourself a real Melbourne vegan, get yourself nice and early to La Panella and drop as much dough as you would buying new shoes. It will be hard because everything is so cheap, but no matter what, you'll walk away with lots of options to achieve your desired sugar high. Recommendation: Grab a Carmel Slice for your weeks worth of sugar in one go!

The Cake Collective, Moonee Ponds

Set on the bank of the lake in the centre of Queens Park, this Moonee Ponds delight is surrounded by exquisite parklands and gushing water displays. At the rear of Curators Collective, The Cake Collective has a vast array of creative options including savoury, sweets, desserts, pastries, bread and of course cakes! Get in early because these vegan options are cult favourites and totally Instagram-worthy! Recommendation: EVERYTHING!

Doughnut Time, Various

The $6.80 might seem excessive but Doughnut Time has their market absolutely covered. There are many vegan options of the cake-sized doughnuts and the opening times mean they're convenient for that late night sugar craving. You'll definitely be able to hunt one down in between episodes of The Good Wife. Suggestion: Classic Fairy Godmother hits both the sweet and savoury notes.
