Einar BredefeldtJohan Hafezi as Leo.
A group of Swedes plan to run a live-action role-playing game in an abandoned factory, but there is something strange lurking in the depths of the place which starts to change anyone who goes near it.
This Swedish series is a slow burner of a horror show so far. The first episode mainly just introduces the character and setting, without revealing much of the mystery yet, but it certainly has me intrigued. The Live action Role Playing Game (LARP) they are planning looks amazing, and I would definitely sign up for it if it was real but not full of actual danger.
Madeleine Martin and Lola Zackow from The Conference.
It stars a lot of young Swedes, most of them ridiculously good-looking, including Madeleine Martin (from
Lea) as Tess, a young woman who has agreed to be part of the LARP to please her boyfriend, Leo (Johan Hafezi). Chrissy (Maya Rung) is the brains behind the operation and is determined to go ahead even if it means delving into areas of the factory that she was told to leave alone. Meanwhile, Indigo (Einar Bredefeldt) has begun to behave strangely after receiving an accidental electric shock. The team have just 10 days to get the operation ship shape before hoards of paying customers arrive from Germany and tensions are high.
Dystopia is an unusual horror show that will make fun viewing in the lead-up to Halloween. Just don't go in expecting a lot of violence and gore, because so far there hasn't been any. It's all about the atmosphere. It is currently streaming on
SBS On Demand .
