History of Jimmy Barnes
Jimmy Barnes was born James Dixon Swan on the 28 April 1956 and was born in Scotland before coming to live in Australia in 1961. He was originally the lead vocalist with the band Cold Chisel for some 20 years, and then went on to become a solo performer and songwriter. One of his better-known songs is "Working Class Man".

The book is the story of how James Swan became Barnsey, as we know him, and is a memoir about the frustration and energy of teenage sex, drugs, violence and the ambition to achieve far more than you have. It is compassionate, gritty, surprising and also funny, and details his childhood, plus the efforts he made to manage a very tough life and escape the misery of the suburbs he lived in.
