Gin cocktails - more than a martini
Gin has undergone a serious glow-up over the past 100 years. Originally brewed by Italian monks as a medicinal beverage, it became the scourge of Victorian society until the popularity of cocktails and mixers in the 20th and 21st centuries turned it into the drink of choice for witty sophisticates.
If you enjoy this juniper-based spirit and want to learn more about the structure and technique of making a perfect cocktail, Valley based gin bar
Dutch Courage (51 Alfred Street) can show you how to create delicious drinks at their gin cocktail making masterclasses.
The Cocktail Masterclasses cover different themes and eras depending on the class - this includes everything from Prohibition-era bathtub brews to modern-day martinis.
Participants will learn about different types of gin, the botanicals and other ingredients used to flavour it, and the various techniques that mixologists use to create unique and memorable drinks. These masterclasses are suitable for people of all skill levels, whether you're an experienced mixologist or a gin virgin.
Classes are approximately $60 per person and bookings can be made via
Eventbrite.
Dutch Courage is located within walking distance of Fortitude Valley train station. Drivers can enjoy a $7 flat rate after 4pm on weekends and all day during the weekends at the Valley Metro secure car park opposite the bar by using the code DUTCHCOURAGE.
