The Dutch and Australia have a long history together, particualrly with many Dutch migrants coming to settle in Australia as part of the Post World War II assisted migration program . According to the 2006 Australian Census , 310,08 people have claimed to be of Dutch ancestry. Notable Dutch Australians include celebrated filmmakers Rolf de Heer and Paul Cox, cricketer Tom Cooper, comedian Trevor Marmalade, entertainer Johnny Young and long distance swimmer Tammy van Wisse.

The Dutch Australian Cultural Centre , located in Smithfield, New South Wales aims to conserve and promote the rich cultural history of Dutch migrants settling in Australia. The Reference Library and Archives feature photographs, books, documents and displays namely on WWII subject matter (in both Dutch and English) and on immigration, but it is also a fantastic place to research the Netherlands and Dutch culture.

The Dutch Australian Cultural Centre will be hosting a special Open Day on July 27th, between 10am and 3pm. All are welcomed.

The Dutch Australian Cultural Centre is a unique facility, which will allow you to explore Australia's immigration history and rich and diverse cultural connections.
