Fri 22 Feb 2019 - Sun 24 Feb 2019

Last year, The was the winner of the 2018 BankSA Best Event Award at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

This festival is a corroboree with a difference; it is aimed at sharing the culture and healing the spirit. Dupang will have local, interstate and international Indigenous artists there for a three-day camping festival at the spectacular waterfront site on the Coorong, Ngarrindjeri land.

This next festival will be held from 22nd to 24th February 2019, from 12 noon to 10.30 pm. It will be on at Ngarrindjeri Land at Long Point, Long Point Rd, Coorong. It is part of the Fringe Festival and you can buy your tickets online here.

The previous festival consisted of healing and people came to learn about the culture and to be together. It was an enlightening and enjoyable few days with storytelling, dancing, fires, workshops, and talking circles. They also went on a journey which connected them to the spirits of the land.

The event is presented by the Tal-Kin-Jeri Dance Group. Tal-Kin-Jeri Dance Group first began in the year 1997 by Major Sumner and Loretta Sumner. They started this venture to showcase Aboriginal dance, stories, music, art, language and culture.

The group give education and training in order to promote a better understanding of the Aboriginal culture and in particular, the Ngarrindjeri culture.

Major (Moogy) Sumner is a Ngarrindjeri Elder, a cultural performer and an artist, as well as cultural director of the Tal-Kin-Jeri Dance Group. Major (Moogy) Sumner was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2014 for his services given directly to the Indigenous community for many years.

Major Sumner intends to teach Australians that Aboriginal culture is all about sharing with each other and working together for the good of the whole community. He endeavours to help everyone with his massive contributions.

[b]CAMPING AT THE EVENT**
The festival site is on Aboriginal land at Long Point at Coorong. This site is adjacent to the Coorong National Park and it a twenty-minute drive to the nearest town of Meningie.

Festival attendees will be able to camp on the site in one of the camping areas.
