With the floods in April 2015 hitting our small country towns with such devastation, why not do your bit to help out and go visit Dungog.

Aussie farmers are a tough lot and it will take more than "a little water" to stop them but at the moment they can use some help to get back on top. They don't need a hand out, but sure could do with a hand up instead.

Missing house and flood damaged business

This missing house and flood damaged business is typical of the damage and is just one of many damaged in the town. The whole town has pulled together with the pubs offering hot meals, showers and a laundromat when people were at there lowest.

If you are able to come and help out our farmers get their farms back into shape, I am sure they would be much appreciative of your assistance. But as most of us will be more of a hindrance than a help, come up and spend some money in town instead.

The drive up to Dungog is a easy one, no matter which way you choose to take and a round trip can be planned easily. Taking you through some of our beautiful farm land and following some of the rivers, you are bound to enjoy the journey.

Dungog is well equipped to cater for the tourists with several pubs and cafes just waiting to give you some good old fashion country hospitality.

Just by visiting and spending some of your cold hard cash in the town will help the whole community to recover. As this town, like so many in the area, are well supported by the motorcyclists who love the surrounding roads and towns. They travel this area for the scenery and company as well as a warm welcome by the locals. But they may be driven away until the roads are once again repaired to allow safe travel on two wheels.

I can recommend most of the cafes, the bakery and bank hotel as I am a regular visitor to the area and I have visited them recently.

I am sure that unless you have good food and service in a small town you will not stay in business for too long, so I don't think you can go wrong visiting the other establishments in town.
