For historians, dancers and lovers of music this is an event certain to please. Together Duncan Gardiner of The Enoggera Ensemble and Sheree Greenhill of Dance Kaleidoscope have created a unique event Promenade Sociable which is being held in the historic Holy Cross Church in Wooloowin that dates back to 1843.

Duncan Gardiner, leader of The Enoggera Ensemble is a guitarist, composer, educator and researcher who is undertaking a doctor of Musical Arts degree.

The Ensemble features Duncan, Joel Woods, Dominic Ward and Marissa Carroll. Together they bring to life Queensland's rich colonial musical history.

Sheree Greenhill, founder of Dance Kaleidoscope is an enthusiastic dancer and experienced dance teacher, who is passionate about dancing from the 18th century - particularly English Country Dancing from the days of Jane Austen and early Australia.

These dances are the forerunner to Bush Dancing but ranging from very simple to more complex and stately. Lovers of Austen movies will have seen the stately type.

Join in the dancing or just watch.


The programme consists of simple dances which will be taught, a concert from the Enoggera Ensemble, afternoon tea and more dancing.

WHEN
Sunday 2nd June from 1.30pm

Entry to the entire event costs $50 $45 concession
For concertgoers the cost is $30/$5 (including afternoon tea)
Concert begins at 3.15pm

Dress: Costume - Regency/ Victorian/ Edwardian/ smart casual
