This little dish will tantalise and delight your taste buds to no end.

I don't get particularly excited about tofu as it lacks eye appeal, taste and texture - a chef needs to be creative and inventive to tempt your palette.

So when this dish arrived at our table, I had minimal interest.

As I popped a piece into my mouth, I baulked with surprise.
A light crisp outer layer gave interest to my tongue, followed by the delicate flavours of salt, pepper and chilli.

My brain did a back flip on my usual thoughts about tofu, so much that before I was finished eating my first piece, my chopsticks were in action grabbing for another, then another, and another. My fellow diners had to keep up to get their share of this golden morsel.

It was a pity we had ordered several other dishes, as I would have ordered another plate to satisfy my new found relationship with tofu.

Oh well, that just means another visit for me to Dumpling King Restaurant on King Street, Newtown.

Being a part time carnivore, this is the first tofu dish I have thoroughly enjoyed.
