Try some tasty delightful vegetarian dishes at Dumpling King in Newtown.
I Love Dumpling King T shirts worn by all the staff, highly promotional, you won't forget where you are!

Lured by its name, this restaurant conjured warm, homely thoughts on this cold autumn night. Dumpling King offers a long listed menu of, yes, dumplings filled with scrumptious delights. Salivating through the choices of pork, lamb, chicken, vegetarian; steamed or pan fried in a variety of flavours.
Vegetarian spring roll starter with customary sweet and sour sauce. A great little starter!

My friend being a vegetarian, chose the dishes. Beginning with the customary spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce, was a good starter.
Salt & Pepper Tofu, crispy, tasty, grab for more!

Next, was a surprisingly delicious dish. I wasn't particularly excited about tofu until I bit into the crispy outer layer. The delicate spice tantalised my taste buds so much, I made a hasty grab for many more. A tasty vegetarian dish to convert those carnivores.
Delightful pan fried vegetarian dumplings with added flavour

Along came pan fried vegetarian dumplings to dip into the chilli oil. This golden oil 'looks' harmless - pop your finger in for a quick taste test then wait a few seconds for the chilli to sock its punch, perfect flavour.
This chilli oil has a real 'sock it to me' punch, but you have to wait a few seconds for it to hit!

Eggplant pot to warm your soul

A hearty eggplant dish warmed my cold soul. Eaten with a small serving of rice adds some needed texture to soak up the sauce.
Shallot Pancake, they are not my teeth marks!

I could not resist asking a neighbouring fellow diner about her shallot pancake. She graciously cut a slice for me to try and told me she orders this several times a week. I loved the slight salty flavour, although a little oily for my liking, one slice is enough for me.
Pork and Chive pan fried dumplings - for your fellow carnivores

Pork and Chive steamed dumplings - for the weight conscious carnivores

This vegetarian food was pretty good, although I just had to order a serving of pork and chive dumplings. With 12 per serving, you would need some meat eating friends to share, alas I didn't, so most went into a 'doggy bag' for my next day's lunch.
