Dumpling Boy Temple is a "pseudo-shaman space on steroids where the kitsch-o-meter is set to full on".

Dumpling Boy Temple is actually an art installation space which will give you a unique, kitsch shamanistic experience! The temple space takes its inspiration from shamanism cultures in contemporary Asia. Here there will be a mixture of several traditions and symbols, all combined with manufactured interesting objects.

When you attend this event, you will be able to enter this space, inspect the objects and pray to the Dumpling Boy in order to receive good luck from him!

Audiences can also take temple tours by UB (Youbi Lee), who will be dressed up in an Asian shamanic costume. She will also interact with members of the public in a performing manner.

UB is a visual artist and community arts practitioner. She can now do many different forms of visual art skills, such as printmaking, installation, videos and performances in Korea.

She has moved to live in Australia and since then, UB has been initiating and teaching visual arts workshops and collaborative community arts projects. She has developed partnerships with about twenty local organisations all of whom support multiculturalism and "co-created artworks with over 1,000 participants in Victoria."

Her latest work IS Dumpling Boy Temple and this exhibition is part of Mapping Melbourne, 2018.

You and your family and friends will be able to access this family-friendly space and here there will be a mixture of traditions and symbols as well as the manufactured objects and kitsch cultures of contemporary Asia.
