Dukes Coffee Roasters at Ross House

Tucked at the base of a five-storey heritage building, there is a decidedly vintage feel that emanates from
Dukes Coffee Roasters at Ross House.
From the outside, little squares of window with forest green panes frame a cheerily lit cafe and it somehow reminds me of Christmas.
Of course there are
other Dukes around town , but Dukes on Flinders Lane is my favourite.
Coffee is the queen of this palace and what a fine brew she be.
Rich, full bodied and crowned with the most flawless latte art in every single cup.
With the throne busily occupied, there's only
just room enough for a delightful selection of cakes and pastries. These rarely disappoint and are often accompanied by just that little wisp of Masterchef class.
The team at Dukes are part of
Ross House, Australia's only community owned and non-profit building.
Inside, intricately patterned antique floor tiles contrast elegantly against an otherwise simple colour scheme. Wooden detailing fashioned from reclaimed timber adds a modern and artsy vibe in an otherwise quaint environment.
It's all very Feng Shui, but most importantly, it is memorable.
After all, there are a plethora of fabulous cafes about town, each vying for attention in their own unique ways.
In the sweeping momentum of café hopping, many are forgotten, even some of the good ones.
But not so for a little cafe on Flinders Lane.
I may sometimes be gone a week,
a month,
or even a year…
…But somehow, I always find myself coming back to Dukes.
