The 6th of January was the first Sunday of the New Year 2013.
The weather forecast for Perth has taken us for the greatest roller coaster ride of the Oz summer weather.
My greatest friend Leon and I decided that we should treat ourselves by heading to the beach and with luck, try to enjoy the sun and pamper myself to a long awaited summer tan. We managed to find ourselves a spot of this lovely brekkie/brunch place named
Duende along Newscastle Street in Leederville.
Soon enough, we found ourselves with a menu filled of mouth watering dishes and great selection of drinks and coffee. They had decors of straw hats and very spanish country farm lookalike corners.
I had the crab and chorizo omelette, and it was served with two pieces of sourdough and French butter. The omelette was beautifully cooked and moist just how I like it. We ordered a serve of the doughnut balls served with cream and fresh berries jam/spread. My goodness! It was just the loveliest dish I had for the week! The cream and the berries went well together like it was meant to be.
Duende had a lot of customers, and crowded queues too, just like their competitive Sayers, right across the road. We were fortunate that we could spend an hour enjoying our meal. Although, you must be willing to wait and have a high amount of patience because their kitchen is very busy. It is an open kitchen so you can watch the drama of the kitchen especially when it's really packed with orders.
Having said that, the wait is worth it and the food was simple and delicious. The best thing to do after brekkie is to head off to the beach to enjoy a quick cold swim. Leon was keen to head to City Beach due to the less crowd and peace and quiet around the area. City Beach was very refreshing and clean! The water was cold and the perfect remedy to chill after the sun began to shine radiating the heat. If you want to head off to a less crowded beach, City Beach will the best place!
Please bear in mind, you really do need your sunscreen this summer. I had a lot of sunscreen on me but I still suffer from a bad and red sunburnt on my back. Don't repeat the same mistake I made, and enjoy your weekend with great food and great relaxation at the beach.
