The Spanish word Duende can be translated as "having soul or a certain magic" and helps describe this popular Leederville eatery.
Breakfasts from 7.30am to 4pm are the latest addition to the range of enjoyment found at Duende – overlapped by the Tapas Menu starting at noon.
The magic of the breakfast menu is that favourite dishes found anywhere have been made unique with a Spanish twist – I had the 'Eggs Bene' which boasts salty jamon instead of the standard ham and paprika spiced hollandaise which adds colour and flavour to a standard.
The 'Duende Breakfast' again has successful substitutions to the usual – spiced beans instead of baked and chorizo rather than chipolatas.
The breakfast drinks menu is extensive; almost any kind of tea is available and are too plentiful to list here or on their menu.
The restaurant's magic atmosphere is full of quirky décor, uplifting quotations and artistic styling. While a pram might be difficult to get into one of the corner booths, the outside area is comfortable and great for people watching.
Start or end your morning here just a few steps from the regular weekend Farmers' Markets and Leederville's other shopping boutiques.
