The Annual Rotary Easter Art Show has been held in many different venues across the Bellarine Peninsula in it's 36-year history (from Queenscliff, to Portarlington, to Leopold), but now it's finally coming back to the township where it was first conceived- Drysdale.
The Easter Art Show is a well-received event in the Geelong region
While the Art Show is no stranger to being held in Drysdale- it has been shown at The Potato Shed in previous years- this year it will be held in the much larger Christian College Sports Stadium (Bellarine campus, Collins Street). This larger venue means that even more unique artworks from local and Victorian artists can be displayed.
The event will be held at the Bellarine campus of Christian College this year
The exhibits in this show are always of the highest calibre, and are created by many renowned artists from around the region, as well as ambitious amateurs hoping to win an award for their paint-streaked creation. There is a prize for Best Of Show (to the value of $1000) and several other category awards (worth hundreds of dollars). Unfortunately, entries are now closed, so if you want the chance to win one of these exceptional prizes, you'll have to enter your painting into next year's show.
If, on the other hand, you're not much of an artist, there's always the opportunity to buy an award winning piece from the many on display. There will also be an exhibition of VCE art from some of the local colleges, for those interested in viewing works by some of the artists of tomorrow.
With over 400 paintings on sale on the day, and the majority of the proceeds going towards Rotary community projects (including the Andrew Love Cancer Centre) there's no excuse not to visit this show and buy up big. The bare walls in your home will thank you for it!
