I was heading for a restaurant in Caulfield for some breakfast when I walked past Drumstick & Co. The clean lines of the decor and the beautiful bright yellow theme caught my eye. Having only been there since October 2014, it's already chalked up an 88% rating on Urbanspoon. You'll find them on 67 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield North (03) 8395 7528 and they're open everyday of the week from 11am to 8.30pm.
Amit and Diego are the two young men behind this food outlet. Amit has been a chef for 12 years in various eateries, including fine dining restaurants, and Diego has 10 years experience under his belt as an operator for Tango in Toorak. They source local produce from trusted suppliers and their free range chickens are chemical and hormone free. That just means every time you bite into one of their chickens you'll be enjoying the best quality ingredients. Many of their salads and house chips also suit those requiring gluten free options. Just ask the staff behind the counter to direct you to what you need. If you would like them to cater for any of your events or functions, contact them for more information.
Passionate about providing quality products, their signature salads certainly look luscious. Clean, healthy, affordable, gluten free, (except for the schnitzel) oven baked and roasted are descriptions that come to mind. Only good oils such as rice bran and olive oil is used here.
Amit and Diego make sure it's not just a greasy take-away joint and I'd say they can call this a success story as it more than meets their brief. The food is presented well and the signature salads look amazing, not to mention the ambiance of the place itself. You know it's not your average take away when you see the better products on offer that don't have MSG and cater to all tolerances.
