I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
The world premiere season of Dream Lover will run at Sydney's Lyric Theatre until 27 November. For two and half hours David Campbell is Bobby Darin and hardly leaves the stage. His charismatic performance is ably supported by rest of the cast including Caroline O'Connor in two roles as his mother and mother-in-law.
Bobby Darin lived his 37 years to the full and his story is told with sensitivity, drama and humour via the music and lyrics of 46 of his songs. The costumes and hairstyles were evocative of the 50s and 60s and would have sparked some happy memories for many of the audience.
Although the story of Dream Lover touches on some sad and poignant issues the upbeat music ensures you will leave the theatre tapping your toes with a smile on your face. The enthusiasm and exuberance of the young cast carries you along and you will also gain an appreciation of the multi-talented David Campbell.
