Great news for parents and carers looking for something a little different to do with the children this coming September school holidays.

The intriguing Dream Puppets are on tour once more, heading to Patterson Lakes in Melbourne South East on 26th September 2013. They will be performing their second imaginative puppet theatre show adventure; Dreamer in Space .
"In this story Dreamer lives in the outback of Australia and has a hobby - astronomy. Dreamer's computer, via his satellite dish, picks up a message from an intelligent life form in a distant solar system . Dreamer who has his own space ship, decides to investigate. He is off to experience weightlessness, travel through a wormhole, discover a new solar system and save a growing planet from a planet eating space monster."

This is a 40 minute performance which is entirely puppetry, and uses a technique called backlight. The room is darkened, and everything within the puppetry booth comes alive with the colour of neon, lit by fluorescent tubes. The puppeteers wear black velvet, making them almost invisible, certainly to the child's eye.

Having seen the performance before, this will be my second time watching Dreamer in Space with my 5yr old son. He sat mesmerised throughout the entire 40 minute performance last time, adding his own commentary and discussion with his friends!

The show engages its audience as crazy neon alien creatures dance through a dreamlike story. Whilst aimed at kinder and primary aged children, adults are equally entertained.

Pre-sale tickets are available at $10 per child or $15 per family (max 3 children), which is quite the bargain. Whilst tickets are said to be available on the door ($12 per child or $20 a family ticket), I would recommend pre booking if possible, as the last Dreamer in Space show I went to see sold out before the day.
