Draw 62 Magical Creatures and Make Them Cute, by Heegyum Kim, is the follow up to her book Draw 62 Animals and Make Them Cute. It features a large variety of magical creatures, including a dragon, griffin, dodo (not exactly magical, but extinct and I suppose there to make up the number), centaur, mandrake, siren, ghost, Maine Coon (they're just cats, but I suppose their owners think they're magical), enchanted elephant (sure, why not?), ghost, hobbit and merman.
For each creature, there is a step by step guide of how to draw it, then a page of suggestions of different ways to draw it, accessories to add etc. to "make it cute". As with Heegyum Kim's previous book, I thought that the step by step guide didn't really break down drawing each animal into enough steps, which would make this book quite frustrating for someone who didn't already have a bit of confidence in their ability to draw. Speaking for myself, I found the idea of drawing some of the creatures in this book, such as the centaur, a bit too intimidating to attempt. Maybe it's best to try some of these out when you're well-rested, or after a glass of wine.
Some of my attempts at drawing creatures from the book.
