Drama With A Difference is one of Australia's most established independent acting schools, with a history that spans over twenty years.
It is the launching pad of many successful actors, and its students have appeared in endless guest roles and major lead roles in film, television and theatre.
This course involves playing a part in a full-length comic play at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April 2017.
It is divided into two sections, with the first section being from October to December, and the second section starting at the end of January 2017 and running until April 2017, when the season of shows will take place. This is all carefully detailed on the website.
Once a week (on a Tuesday night at Clifton Hill) you will have a two hour class in acting technique. This class will be based on what is known as "the method" and you will be able to directly apply what you learn to the show itself.
On Sundays, the show will be rehearsed, however, you won't be required every Sunday. The play will be broken down into scenes, and you will only be called in when your own scenes are being rehearsed. The selected plays will see everyone having more or less equal time on stage.
This is an ideal course for anyone who really wants to be an actor. You will perform to the public in a full-length play at a major festival, for a minimum of seven shows. It will be a wonderful opportunity to invite an agent and /or casting directors to view your work on stage.
This course is also valuable for people who do not wish to be actors. Many people who have attended these performance courses in the past work in other industries and are happy to participate in plays and productions while keeping their "day job". They find that this performance/production course offers them a valuable insight into the process that professional actors go through, and see themselves improve with each performance. The schedule is worked around a working person's life.
