Dragon's Back trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Hong Kong. In addition to its cool name, this hiking trail is suitable for all ages due to its mild intensity and lets you take in the breathtaking mountain and sea views away from the busy concrete jungle.
Located in the Shek O Country Park, you can easily access the trail by taking Bus No.9 to Shek O which departs from the Shau Kei Wan bus terminus (accessible by Shau Kei Wan MTR exit A3). There are two options for the trail depending where you hop off the bus. Option one (more well known) is getting off at To Tei Wan stop and hike up, ending at Tai Long Wan (Chinese for Big Wave Bay). Alternatively, you can get off near the correctional facility and end at To Tei Wan or Shek O beach.
This time we tried the way from the back of the correctional facility. This less traveled road lies behind the security gate for vehicles at the correctional facility and can be accessed in a small diversion to the right as you walk up the windy slope. At the start of the trail you'll be greeted by a cute sign post with a dragon, indicating that the walk takes approximately 1.25hrs.
