For a fun and family friendly outing, then look no further than at Surfers Paradise. This is better than a lame ghost train at the show; Dracula’s Haunted house is five levels worth of thrills.

You start at the bottom level where the spookily dressed, but very friendly staff, guide you to an old fashioned elevator that takes you to the fifth floor. From there you slowly make your way down the levels where you will be greeted by a variety of scary, funny and downright disgusting attractions.

To tell all of what you will see would ruin the surprises and scares but some of the highlights include the carnival of freaks where you will see some weird and wonderful illusions. There is also a mirror maze which will confuse both children and adults alike. One level pokes fun at local culture and has zombie meter maids and a surf lifesaver that has been nibbled on by a shark.

Be warned, when you reach the bottom level and last attraction; be prepared for quite a surprise. There is also an amazing gothic horror shop for all things weird and freaky.

To get to the Gold Coast from Brisbane, there are trains that run to Robina and from there take a connecting bus to Surfers Paradise. For more information on fares and train timetables see the Translink website.

Open from 10am until late. Tickets are $23 for adults and $19 for under 18’s or $74 for a family. Children under ten are not recommended.
