The Dr. Seuss book, the Lorax, has forever been one of my favourites, though it took me a few years to realise what it was all about.
Now the classic has been revamped and animated and is showing at cinemas everywhere. I went along mainly to gawk at the animation, not realising that anything new could be added to the already monumental message contained within the plot (if you haven't read it, it focuses on waste, greed and care for the world you live in). However, I was wrong.
This movie triumphs in bringing out all the good that was in the book and concentrates it through colour and song.
The message of the film is brought home in a mix of comedy and seriousness, though it is never forced down your throat. This is a film that children will not only enjoy, but take a meaningful and more importantly, comprehensible message from.
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."-Dr. Seuss.
