Dr Lurve & The Syringe of Shame, written and directed by Sunshine Coast locals Lisa and Kevin Blair, will have its Queensland premiere presented by Coolum Theatre Players.

The play debuted in Western Australia where the couple lived before moving to Queensland. "The play was a sellout success in WA and we're excited to be presenting it here," said Lisa. "We had full houses at "Get Smart", our last Coolum show, so we're hoping our blend of comedy, song, dance, audience interaction and plenty of local "in jokes" will hit the spot again!"

"We are incredibly blessed to have an amazing cast of 24 local performers who have taken these characters and given them life and who are more than ready to show Sunshine Coast audiences a performance they will be talking about for a long time," said Lisa.

"They will sing, dance and improvise their way through the storyline and we can guarantee there is plenty in there to keep everyone laughing and on their toes!"

Dr Lurve & The Syringe of Shame tells the tale of brand new medical intern Dr Richard Lurve, a smooth-talking womaniser who has failed his way all through medical school, only managing to graduate because of family connections. He is sent to his first posting, St Wretched's Regional Hospital and meets some very strange characters and discovers sinister events taking place.

Lisa and Kevin said that the humour in the play has been influenced by many sources of comedy, including the old Carry On Doctor movies, some Monty Python references and a dash of Austen Powers. "It gets a bit cheeky at times!" added Kevin with a laugh.
