Celebrate Super Saturday every fourth Saturday of the month (except December) at Drayton's
DownsStream Tourist Railway and Museum.
Where is Drayton? Drayton is an outer southwestern suburb of Toowoomba, South East Queensland, which makes it the perfect destination for an escape from the big smoke for the whole family.
Operated by the Darling Downs Historical Railway Society and staffed wholly by volunteers, this organisation is dedicated to the establishment and preservation of a tourist railway for the Darling Downs region.
And the big bonus? You don't have to be a train buff to enjoy the surrounds!
Super Saturdays entail railcar rides, a sausage sizzle, tours of rail carriages, memorabilia displays, and live music on the railway platform. Coffee and light snacks are also available.
For a real treat, ensure that you tour the dreamtime carriage for a fascinating insight into Indigenous culture.
On these days entry is by donation of a folded note, and the facility is open from 9am till 3pm. Eftpos is available on site.
The
DownsStream Tourist Railway and Museum also caters for groups and school tours and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am till 3pm. The facility also opens for special events such as Mother's Day, Father's Day and Australia Day celebrations. See
here.
Located at 16 Cambooya Street, Drayton.
