At the you will be greeted by warm and friendly smiles and also by the featured image of a cockatoo wearing a trim of rainbow colours.

The acrylic painting entitled 'Clear to Land' is by Jacqueline Hill (Jacqui), the original being worth $5500. Jacqui has introduced the use of more blue for this artwork beside her more typical colours of magenta and turquoise. Jacqui has won first prize at the Brookfield Art Show for her watercolour eastern cats and displays her award-winning art in a gallery and studio at Bellbowrie. Originally from an IT background, Jacqui's 'Art at Heart' gallery inspires us to follow our hearts. Jacqui loves to paint animals and nature. Her painting entitled 'Final Approach' of a heron who appears to be dreaming of a fantasy world, is sublime. For $3900 it's yours and at the time of writing, had yet to sell.

Jacqui will be painting on location in the foyer and would welcome getting to know you as she works.

On entering the exhibition, the haunting music of Enya enhances the other-worldly feel of being immersed in a sea of art.

A regular exhibiter of spiritual paintings, popular local artist Vivienne Heckels tries to express joy and happiness in her art, so that all who view it can be taken to a new place where they too can be uplifted through the colours and joy expressed in the actions of the people, animals and creatures. Tiffany Jones Fine Art Gallery in Buderim, has a painting of Vivienne's for sale.

Artist Clare Toms has had a successful solo show and has been finalist in a South Australian Museum's Waterhouse Prize as well as the Bowness Photographic Prize at Monash Gallery of Art, Victoria. Her oil painting 'Equilibrium' at Downlands was bold in style and colour while at once soft and hard in the subject of flowers and a human skull.

Polish artist Ewa Pronczuk-Kusiak displays some of her work including 'Dreamer', an oil painting in vibrant saturated colours and others of hers inspired by her observations of the world and women.

A charcoal by Kerry Landsberg, 'Baby Addison', is so lifelike you can almost imagine the infant breathing as she sleeps, wearing a delicate lace garland. Is she resting upon a parent's body or a soft lounge?

Included in the over 1160 artworks were the dreamlike 'Forest' by Maryika Welter, the stillness of a cove in 'Captain Cook Creek - Bruny Island' watercolour by James Fearnley and 'Grape Country' gouache by Mal Leckie who created a vineyard surrounded by lilac skies and mountains over jade, maroon and turquoise below. Three dimensional art included multi-media on skateboards. Textured works included hats and hatpins by 'Ewe neek' by well-known local artist and tutor Helen Stumkat. 'The Kiss' sculpture made from recycled materials was of a woman kissing a Jewish man.

Jewellery by the Met Gallery featured, from Israel, ancient Roman glass which has obtained the colourful 'patina' effect caused by soil, minerals, and heat over the centuries. Their gallery displays only a portion of their stock at one time so it's worth visiting regularly.

If you don't have much to invest with, something to take home for only $22.50 were the 225cm-square paintings.

A reasonably-priced al fresco café awaits the visitor and is the perfect pause or end to your gallery experience.

The Downlands College is a co-educational boarding college which opened in 1931. The beautiful historic buildings are worth taking the time to admire. A fountain of poignant meaning seems to play mysterious music of its own. 'Fortes in Fide' (Strong in Faith) is the school's motto and truth, learning and respect for the individual are its values.

Come to the art exhibition and be inspired to keep up your own artistic thumb, invest in art, meet the artists, or to simply enjoy wonderful works of art with friends.
