Down With Love - Film Review

Down with Love stars Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweeger as a journalist and would be novelist at logger heads.

It is so silly that the movie is almost a pastiche of a pastiche, using every sixties stereotype associated with both sexes. The audience instantly falls in love with both protagonists, who are both arrogant and self centred as one another.

The film is set in beautiful sixties New York, with stylised landscapes and glorious New York sunshine, all willing the audience to go back to the New York of the sixties (but the film makers fantasy version!).

The story is that of a small town girl, Barbara Novak, who comes to New York to publish and promote her new book 'Down with Love' about abstaining from love not sex. In an attempt to promote her book she tries to get world famous journalist, Catcher Block, to interview her and sparks fly as a result.

A great film and a romance without the 90's fuzz.
