A one-of-a-kind online auction, which will culminate at the Dowerin Field Days , hopes to generate up to $70,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service through the sale of an innovative piece of farm machinery.

A 40,000 litre Nyrex chaser bin, used by farmers to collect grain from the harvesters to transport to storage, has been specially created in RFDS livery by WA farm machinery manufacturer GrainKing.

The auction celebrates the 90th anniversary of the RFDS in 2018.

The auction, to be run by Smith Broughton Auctioneers , will start online on August 20 and conclude at the end of the August 29 auction at the Dowerin Field Days.

GrainKing will donate the Nyrex chaser bin, which usually sells for $97,900, with all profits going to the RFDS.

The Nyrex chaser bin, built using modern materials to reduce costs and increase farm efficiency, was recognised at the Swedish Steel Awards in May, earning a place as a runner-up against a host of international entrants.

GrainKing CEO Colin Jorgensen said the organisation works across Australia's grain growing areas, which made it an ideal fit for the RFDS, which operates in some of the most remote areas in the world.

The RFDS is one of the biggest aeromedical organisations on the planet, providing health care to people over a 7.69 million square kilometre area.

Mr Jorgensen said the unique Nyrex chaser bin in its RFDS colours would be an important asset to any grain farm, reducing grain discharge times, minimising energy use and reducing soil compaction.

And while their farm was gaining a valuable asset, whoever bought the bin could be proud of supporting a wonderful organisation.

RFDS CEO Rebecca Tomkinson said the organisation was delighted to have GrainKing's support.

Ms Tomkinson said both organisations provided support for farming communities and people on remote rural properties and urged farmers to get behind the auction both for their own benefit and for the RFDS.

The Dowerin Field Days are held at the Wheatbelt centre of Dowerin, a 156km drive north east of Perth.

Now in their 53rd year, the field days are the biggest agricultural event in Western Australia, attracting around 25,000 visitors each year.
