This is a business serious about gems, fossils and prehistoric artefacts. This fascinating shop is full of an eclectic mix of unique and wonderful objects, including two, yes- two 125 million year old Dinosaurs for sale!
Dove and Lyre also have a massive range of fossils including ammonites and trilobites from Morocco, Woolly Mammoth teeth and tusk from Europe, and even a Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth. They source their products from all over the world, so you never know what new and exciting stock arrives monthly.
Apart from their amazing fossils, Dove and Lyre also have a vast range of Gemstones – from the common to the obscure, in a price range from $4 to over $2,000. Australian minerals and gemstones are a specialty and after a huge trip to Broken Hill and Coober Pedy earlier this year, they also offer a wide range of Australian opals!
They even have a range of books for those interested in the metaphysical and organic properties of the gems. You can even buy gemstone beads to make your own individual jewellery.
Dove and Lyre also have a display of Australian and European meteorites including the latest one to hit Russia in 2013. Did you know there are 172 known impact craters in the world and Australia has 25 of these? The shop also has available Moldavite and Libyan glass – also created by meteor impacts.
From the Pre-historic to the Historic and Modern, go and have a look at their incredible range of jewellery – from early Roman, to antique, Art Deco and the latest stainless Steel and Silver Jewellery! What a choice!
This shop is fabulous and has a regular turn over of stock, so there is always something new for the enthusiast to find. Lay By is possible for the more expensive items and Rob, when he is in, will take the time to discuss any of the pieces in detail with you and point out some pieces you probably missed (as there is heaps in the store). Always an open and welcoming shop with many a gem, literally, for the collector or curious passer by.
