New Farm riverside eatery
Another busy Sunday
There's so much to like about this licensed, riverside cafe in New Farm. Well, to start with the food is fantastic. Your taste buds are spoilt for choice with a creative menu of perfectly prepared and modern delights delivered by friendly and upbeat staff. Breakfast beauties like baked beans and poached eggs don't disappoint. There is an abundance of freshly made tempting treats to enjoy with your Merlo coffee. The mixed berry tarts, bread and butter pudding, and banoffie pie are all hard to resist.

Double Shot has recently started opening on Friday evenings, when it transforms with a tapas flair and serves treats like chilli mussels.

Indoor and outdoor seating is available with all spaces taking advantage of the natural light and river breezes. Seating at the front of the cafe is shaded by a frangipani tree which gives a tropical feeling of being in Queensland. My preferred space is the covered indoor area lined with green wannabe hedging, sleak grey corrugated iron wall treatment and a splash of vibrant yellow trimmings.
Astro turf lines the curbside to park your bike, stroller or pooch with large dog bowls provided to quench pups' thirst.
Street parking is available in Oxlade Drive and neighbouring streets, but it does come at a premium. To avoid taking the car, the cafe is a gentle stroll from the Sydney Street ferry stop and a short glide from the city cycle bike station in Merthyr Park. The 196 Council bus also stops right outside. What could be easier?
