Two girls One fabric
Possibly the strangest party I have ever been to (certainly the only one that took minutes) was hosted by the hilariously frank comedy duo Michelle Brasier and Laura Frew. Greeted as we sat down by a homage to Britney Spears' and Justin Timberlake's iconic 2001 AMA outfits, it was clear that when we were told there would be denim, they were not messing around.
Michelle Brasier and Laura Frew
Frew and Brasier brought everything from skits to sing-a-longs, dancing to downright deviancy. They immersed us in their unique sleep over party complete with a game of pass the parcel and a single party refreshment, for which we were mercifully given our own straws. Hot tip: don't think sitting up the back will save you.
Through their side-splittingly explicit depiction of teen-hood I was faced with pangs of recognition at my own teenage cringe-worthiness. I was thrown into a quick and unforgiving succession of the embarrassing rites of passage we all go through played out before me, and, judging by the endless laughter and grimacing faces, I was not the only one. Brasier and Frew expertly forced us to look at ourselves and have a good, long laugh.
Unfortunately, Britney and Justin couldn't make it, but just in case they change their minds and finally answer the fax make sure you get in to the Belleville and see Double Denim before it ends.
