Come along to plant trees and celebrate the beauty of nature - it’s National Tree Day - and the
Doonan Planting Festival is the place to be, to unite for a greener tomorrow!
A fun free activity for the whole family ...
The Doonan Planting Festival is all about making a difference by planting three thousand trees, shrubs and ground covers in the Doonan Creek Environment Reserve. By being part of this incredible event, participants will be providing essential food and habitat for local wildlife, such as eastern grey kangaroos, wallum froglets, brown quail, Australian pipit and grey-headed flying foxes.

Here’s the important need-to-know info:
FREE family-friendly event
Plant three thousand trees, shrubs and ground covers. The planting holes will already be pre-dug. Nature lovers will need to assist with the planting, as well as giving the plants a good drink of water.
FREE small coffee per adult
FREE sausage sizzle
Interactive insect display by Bugs Ed. and get to hold a live stick insect
Live acoustic music by SoLar
Everyone loves face painting
Face painting by Holly Blossom Face & Body Art
Create a bush critter with clay and seed pods
Information Stalls
ClimateWatch Trail guided walks - (bookings essential, see further down for link)
Nest box monitoring activity - (bookings essential, see further down for link)
FREE park and ride bus from Landsborough, Palmview, Sippy Downs, Caloundra, Kawana, Maroochydore and a shuttle bus from Peregian Springs State School - (bookings essential, see further down for link.)
Create your very own bush critter with clay and seed pods
All activities will run throughout the event period and volunteers are welcome to drop in at any time and for any amount of time during the allocated morning. Guided walks and workshops must be pre-booked.
Main Activities:
9.00am to 12.00noon - tree planting
9.30am to 12.00noon - be serenaded with the soulful sounds of SoLar while you're planting.

Extra Activities:
9.15am to 9.45am - Nest box monitoring workshop. Monitor nest boxes using a pole mounted camera to see what animals are living there.
9:30am to 12.00noon - Interactive insect display with Bugs Ed.
9:30am to 12:00noon - Face painting with Holly Blossom Face & Body Art.
9:30am to 12:00noon - Create a bush critter using clay and natural seed pods with Bush Critters.

Make sure to bring your own reusable coffee cup along to receive your ONE FREE small coffee per adult
Food and Drink:
10.00am to 12.00noon - Hot drinks and frappes. Purchase a hot coffee, tea or enjoy a frappe from The Coffee Crew. Bring along your reusable coffee cup to receive your ONE FREE small coffee per adult.
10.00am to 12.00noon - FREE Sausage sizzle. Enjoy the free sausage sizzle (vegetarian option available).
All tools, plants, gloves and guidance will be provided. Please bring your own water to drink and wear enclosed shoes and sun-safe clothing.
No experience is necessary to participate in the Doonan Planting Festival.
