Bigger, badder and better than ever, and back to you by popular demand, save the 19th and 20th of August for the
2017 Donut & Beer Fest: Winter Edition! Head to
Batman Royale, 14 Gaffney St, North Coburg, where they'll have two sessions each day from
11am-3pm and 4-8pm.
It'll be $15 full price and kids under 12 go free. Your tickets include fast entry and a taster of the official festival beer. Get your tickets
HERE. A portion of each ticket sold goes to
FareShare, a charity that rescues surplus food and cooks free, nutritious meals for Victorians doing it tough.
To ease crowds and queues, a ticketed cashless system will be employed. Your ticket will be scanned and put onto a card (think debit card) which you'll use like PayPass for the day to buy food and drink.
The adage 'just add beer' gives this festival a local Aussie twist. Manchuria is the official bar, however, the festival welcomes a range of craft brewers to their line-up of local and independent donut vendors. You'll even find a doughnut-friendly beer made from sessional amber ale with a touch of caramel malt developed exclusively for the festival by
Kooinda Brewery.
Come hungry because there's going to be donut eating competitions with prizes, best donut award judged by a panel of experts, people's choice best donut award, savoury food vendors experimenting with the donut shape, beer and cocktails exclusively developed to complement donuts, and donut styles from around the world like Argentina, Greece, Hungary, South Africa, America, Denmark, Australia and even Nutella donut burgers to glow in the dark donuts.
Sip on a hot chocolate or mulled wine if you're after some winter warmers as you sit under outdoor heating and cheery festoon lighting, listening to live music or checking out the miniature donut museum with a donut wall and art installations or the pinball partybus. This festival will be housed partially inside and undercover.
Donut Fest Founder Ngoc Le is in her element when it comes to food, and is well known for her baked donuts. She's cooked sweet treats for big name clients like Tiffany & Co, Facebook and Instagram and has a natural inclination for organising events. Hence you can be sure this event will be on point with Ngoc Le at the helm, working on ensuring it becomes an iconic food event in Australia.
