Don't Tell MumBut Really, Do
Dear 2017, I am grateful in advance. I received all the peace, love, joy and slay you had in store for me before I arrived, like the perfect host you are. I am grateful for these eyes that see every shade of chocolate and occasionally need to be dislodged from staring at this new brand or that old favourite. I am grateful for these taste buds that continue to lead me astray, even as I pray that NO GLUTEN FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER.
Bind all sugars and carbohydrates in your treadmill of glory Jehovah. Reveal all plots from the devil to release yet another salted caramel baked good. May all unnecessary cravings forever be a throwback. Amen.
This prayer is necessary especially this year, because: DON'T TELL MUM or #DTM.
If you have a sweet tooth and don't really want to end up in debt buying Australian mangoes, or if you have a party coming up and you don't want cake left over in your fridge until 2018, listen. #DTM really means that you must run and tell your mum to tell her prayer group, to tell their workmates, to tell their children and their children's children, to not play themselves.
DTM will be the reason you waste time on Instagram, scrolling until your thumb is permanently stuck in the same position, because just when you think you found your favourite cake, another one further down the page will be competing for your attention. I present to you Exhibit A:
The reason I love love love #DTM goodies is because this is not one of those baked goods that looks really good but tastes like regret and an empty wallet. For someone who is just starting out, I have watched as these recipes were tweaked and perfected. I've seen a change in the amount of sugar here, oven temperature there, to achieve the perfect consistency. I've watched #DTM creator Zita serve it to her biggest critics (i.e family) and seen the look of shock/amazement/pride as they realise she's on to something here.
DTM looks amazing and tastes even better. I love that the cakes are beautifully moist and don't have the aftertaste of preservatives that is often the case with commercially baked goods. Most of all, I love the passion that goes into each cake. Each bite is a taste of love and passion.
I can't wait to see the heights achieved by #DTM. Follow their Instagram page for updates and more! If you've spent your entire afternoon looking through the #DTM Instagram page and like me, you're now wondering what will wash away your sins, nothing. Nothing but the front facing camera of a Samsung Galaxy S7.
