Make Sure You Get to This Festival - Well Worth the Trip
If you live in Perth, Donnybrook is just over 2 hours drive, about 210 kms from Perth, and "do-able" in a day. However going to this Markets/Festival could be a good excuse to get away for the weekend and book into one of their wide variety of quaint places to stay.

Donnybrook is a lovely town and is renown for being the best apple growing region in the South West, and they even have an Apple Fun Park! There are also some wineries there, set in beautiful surroundings.

But this article is not about Donnybrook itself, but about the fabulous food and wine festival that they are holding. This festival is a free entry event held on the last Saturday in November each year, along the banks of the Preston River.

The festival is a celebration of the region's "growing popularity and reputation for its exceptional wines and local produce". You will be able to sample and indeed buy, some of the Geographe region's award-winning wines (including Chardonnay, Rose, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon) and gourmet food, whilst enjoying a variety of entertainment which, this year, includes:

chef cooking demonstrations
live music
vintage car displays
stalls
fun activities for the kids
jumping castle
face painting

There will be regional chefs Brent and Tracei Taylor, who will showcase their culinary talents and share their knowledge of all things cuisine during the live cooking demonstrations.

Renowned wine expert Megan Kopke from Morevino will host this year's wine appreciation sessions. Megan is a winemaker, show judge, educator and retailer, and Megan's passion and experience ensures that all those who love wine will benefit from her entertaining and knowledge sessions.

Plus, festival-goers can discover local products from a wide range of specialty stalls on offer with many of last year's favourites returning as well as some exciting newcomers.

And, have I mentioned, this festival is FREE!
