Good food, made by hand
Driving down to the balingup medieval weekend festivities we stopped off to sample some of the food at the Donnybrook Family Bakery.
First was a spinach and ricotta sausage roll. Yum, that was a real treat. The flaky pastry was light and not too flaky like some pastries where one bite and it all falls apart. The mix of spinach and ricotta was perfect, great tasting and light enough and not gooey at all. Top marks for that item.

Next was a pastie. Plenty of vegies in this with again a good pastry casing and just the right temperature right through. Top marks to their pastry chef.
However the salad bun bought for lunch was a bit chewy. The chicken filling was a bit on the meagre side and the avocado was in chunks rather than in thin slices, which would have made the handling of it much easier as the avocado tended to fall all over the place.
My recommendation would be to choose the hot food, particularly the pastries. All their wares are made on site. Next time we intend to sample some of the delicious looking sweet pastries from their selection.
