Relaxation and Recreation in Connell's Point
Donnelly Park is a peaceful space at the heart of the green suburb of Connells Point. With panoramic water views, a sprawling area of grass and a variety of options for relaxation and recreation, this park is worth a visit.
The park is home to the Connells Point Sailing Club. There are learn to sail programs here for kids and adults on weekends, great for those wanting to get out on the water. Social events are also held here. For more info check out this.
Donnelly Park playground is a fun excursion for children, and adults (if you're a big kid like me!). With a see-saw, a mini spider web, swing set, and slippery-dip, it is recipe for some classic family fun. It is a pretty scenic playground too - with trees towering over, and the water not far away.
Bring your own ball and enjoy a friendly game of throwing hoop. If you feel like getting active with a game while your family or friends relax in the tranquility of the park, this space is ideal. Perhaps soccer is more your thing, in which case there is sprawling green grass here, often used for games and training.
A sandstone wall gives the park a bit of elevation above the water allowing you to comfortably enjoy the bay view when it is both in low and high tide. A glistening panorama of the bay here, the Georges River, and the green suburbs on the other side of it is right before you.
Long sea wall dividing the bay and Donnelly Park.
Benches are placed along the perimeter of this sea wall, ideal to relax or for a scenic place to have a great conversation. You may also sit on the edge of the wall or on the sandstone steps if you feel like getting closer to the water - or even dipping your toes in.
Sit right at the edge of the bay.
A public boat ramp provides further opportunity to get out on the water. Bring your boat and go for a cruise along the waterways before you. Perhaps a relaxing canoe or kayak in the often small-wave bay in front of Donnelly is preferred.
My favourite feature of this local park is the public pontoon at the end of the wharf. Nothing like being soothed by the motion of the waves, with the calm background music of the water.

It was a beautiful sight when I last chilled here. A thunderstorm was rolling in around sunset creating a golden sparkle on the rather dark waters.
There is beautiful scenery to enjoy here at Donnelly Park. Picnicking, fishing, water sports, social gatherings, relaxing strolls, and much more can be indulged in too.
If you are looking for more to see and do in the area, Kyle Bay is a two-minute drive along Kyle Pde. In addition to more park area and waterside spots, there are some popular cafes and restaurants to enjoy a bite and drink at. Some suggestions are Zippo's Restaurant in The Kyle Bay and The Vintage Goose.
