A newcomer to Melbourne, I love exploring the city and sourrounds by day and night, finding bargains, learning new things, the great outdoors and Melbourne life in general.
Let donkeys bring some joy into your life
Since 1997, Donkey Shelter Inc. has provided rescue and sanctuary for Victorian donkeys and mules that have been orphaned, neglected, abused, abandoned or surrendered.
They provide care to the animals for the rest of their lives (and donkeys can live to 40 years of age).
In 2012, the shelter relocated from Diamond Creek to Tongala in the Goulburn Valley region of northern Victoria. There are very few donkey sanctuaries in Victoria, so take the opportunity to meet some donkeys at the upcoming Donkey Shelter Inc Open Day. This is a family day with tours of the sanctuary, refreshments, stalls and more.
The Shelter is a non-profit organisation so your entrance fee will directly help the many donkeys in need. Visits are normally by appointment only so this is a unique opportunity. Why not make a weekend of it explore the Goulburn Valley region?
If you are a donkey fan or would like to know more about these beautiful animals which are full of character, come to the Open Day on the 13th December and the donkeys will guarantee to bring a smile to your face.
